Ohio Gravel Grinders’ Routes

This community of gravel riding enthusiasts began with a select few in 2012 and now serves as resource to thousands of gravel cyclists. They developed several routes to explore Athens County on gravel roads. Routes start in a number of cities including: Athens, Chauncey, Glouster, Nelsonville and Shade.

Athens Gravel Challenge

Emphasis on the word “challenge” — this race begins with a grueling ascent that thins out the pack. The race traverses a mix of pavement and gravel with lots of elevation change before ending at the Chauncey-Dover Park where great post-race food, soft drinks, music, and podium awards await. This event is a rite of passage for any aspiring gravel rider.

Hosted by Team Athens Cycling.
